Chapter 8: Working Together

Why Partner Or Merge?

My Planning Kit - Add to My Kit - click hereBy partnering or merging, people hope to:

  • Create easier access to services for clients, by linking services more closely together
  • Provide access to a wider range of services to clients so that their needs and interests are better met
  • Expand their responsiveness to changing community needs and interests
  • Increase their organizational capacities to do more by bringing together diverse strengths and competencies
  • Increase the financial sustainability of their current programs and organizations
  • Reduce administrative costs and create economies of scale
  • Broaden the depths and experience of their senior management team
  • Increase their profile in the community
  • Please funders and donors, many of whom see partnerships and mergers as good investments of their dollars.

Not all partnering or merger efforts achieve all of these goals. However, these statements are part of the trend to deeper partnering and merging.
