You may be asking:
- What changes will be necessary to meet different national standards or membership requirements, and to incorporate best practices?
- How will these changes impact the organization?
- Will we be accountable to additional groups, accrediting bodies, professional associations, or other organizations?
- How will we manage accountability to more than one national organization?
These are all fair questions.
Again, if you have followed the steps in this workbook, you will have already begun to address these questions. Be careful that you do not overstate the differences in national standards and membership requirements. Best practices are based on sound research, and are likely to be more common than different.
The questions that you should also ask are:
- How do we take two different sets of national statements about mission, values, standards, and best practices and create our own, unique statement that is stronger than either separate statement?
- How do we benefit from being connected to two different national associations?
- How would we combine national reviews from two different national associations into one, stronger review?
