Chapter 4: Key Considerations For Big Brothers Big Sisters Programs And Boys And Girls Clubs Working Together

Funds
My Planning Kit - Add to My Kit - click hereYou might be asking:
  • Will the new Big Brothers Big Sisters program and/or Boys and Girls Club affect current funding relationships?
  • Will some donors leave?
  • How will we ensure that all of our programs, new and old, have the funds and resources that they need?
  • How will we ensure that one program does not become a financial drain to another?

These are all fair questions.

If you have followed the steps outlined in this workbook, the decision to start a new Big Brothers Big Sisters program or a Boys and Girls Club will not have been made until you have had long conversations with your current funders and donors. Equally, you will have built into your program plan, ways for developing the needed new resources.

The questions that you should also ask are:
  • How will our annual budgeting process need to change to take into account all of our programs?
  • How do we ensure that our budgeting process is fair and balanced?
  • How do we keep our donors and funders, new and old, well informed of the differences we are making with children and young people?

How do we strengthen our capacities to raise sufficient funds and resources?
